I’ve been doing a lot of dancing at rehearsal recently! “Cinderella” has several town scenes and ballroom scenes that require some ballet, Govatte, and Waltz steps, so I’ve had to pull out my old character shoes and rehearsal skirt. However, I think my skills are a bit misleading. I know how to move my body, and I have a strong sense of rhythm… but learning and performing coreography can be a bit of a challenge for me. Especially since I haven’t danced in a long time. However, I feel like with enough practice, I will be able to do well! The Govatte is a new dance for me, but it’s basically really formal and really boring by design. We’re all having some trouble keeping straight faces as we march about the stage! Tonight was a 3 hour rehearsal for the Govatte, and we were all a little brain-dead by the end.
If you’re in the Bay Area, I HIGHLY recommend coming to see the show! We’re partnering with “The Princess Project” to help donate prom dresses and accessories, so you get a good show and a good cause in one fell swoop!
